Bill Marquardt

(founder & managing partner)


Bill is an experienced technology and operations leader with a highly diverse background in science and IT.  Bill has over 20 years of experience in business and has held a variety of leadership positions in different functional areas for small, mid-sized, and large organizations.   After supporting himself through undergraduate and graduate schools working as a practicing paramedic, he obtained a position as a laboratory technologist for Geisinger Health System, after which he went on to hold various high level technical and scientific positions for Roche Diagnostics where he eventually co-founded and launched Roche’s highly successful ‘Middleware Solutions’ product line, a deterministic AI results review and laboratory optimization engine. Bill then joined BioReference Laboratories, where he architected and implemented a homegrown clinical LIS/LIMS for the 4th largest laboratory in the US.  He went on to join McKesson as Vice President of Laboratory Intelligence where he built a team which created, launched, and supported McKesson’s Lab SD2 product line. 


During the COVID-19 epidemic, Bill joined Intrivo as head of science and technology, and oversaw the development, FDA submission, and launch of one of the first over the counter COVID-19 home tests to be introduced to the market (On/Go) which included an AI test reader for smart phones (in less than 1 year). At Intrivo he was also responsible for building both the technology team and infrastructure and acted as the CISO. More recently, Bill held the role of Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Laboratory Operations for NeoGenomics (a public mid-sized NGS oncology testing company) where he oversaw all development, implementation, and support of all software relating to clinical testing, including the LIMS. 


Bill has provided consulting on technology including technology infrastructure, AI, security, software development, operations, M&A diligence, leadership, autoverification, and other functions.  He has also held various vCIO and vCISO positions.

 

Bill obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Penn State University and is an ASCP certified Clinical Chemistry Technologist. He also holds a Master of Business Administration, is a certified LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt, a scrum master, and is a retired nationally registered paramedic. Bill is fluent in many different coding languages and is proficient in both on premise and cloud computing architectures.   Bill was the chairman for the CLSI Auto15 standard (Autoverification of Medical Laboratory Results for Specific Disciplines.)
